Welcome to Photo Stories, a new series that lives to tell the tales behind photos from the community, as told by the talented Lomographers who shot them.
To kick off our storytelling, our first installment for Photo Stories features an image taken by one of the most admired members of the community — the king of multiple exposures, hodachrome. Aptly captioned “Planet of the deep red,” and taken with a Lomo LC-A+, it is an image that combines water and vegetation to yield a fiery and arresting result.
Let’s hear the story behind this image from hodachrome himself.
“This is a double exposure that I photographed in my favorite lycoris field. The film was my selfmade redscale800 (camera setting at ISO200) and I used the splitzer. Upper half and lower half were not the same place, I chose different spots on purpose to give various shapes of trees into the photo. It was not too much of a sunny day and exposure was not enough but it came out with an interesting, high-contrast result. The important things are the choice of nice shapes of the trees and bright river behind them. Actually, the lycoris didn’t look well at that time but I managed to get a nice one with this idea.”
So there you have it, the story behind another magnificent photo by hodachrome. Congratulations to hodachrome on winning five (5) piggies!
