One of the things that attract people to shoot on film are the unexpected surprises that come with it. Today’s featured photo by _baunovart_ is one such case. He shares the fascinating story behind this shot:

Together with my wife, I was in Russia [to visit] her family and friends. One day when we visited her family I ran out of films. So I asked my mother-in-law if she accidentally still has some left because she also shoots [on] film. She gave me a few and among them was also this one. It seems like it [has already been] exposed once by my father-in-law [who went on a] journey long time ago. Without knowing that it was already exposed, I put it on my old LOMO Lubitel because I wanted to try [shooting] 35mm film with this medium format camera. The results are here. Sometimes there are no double exposures at all so only the journey of my father-in-law or only my shots [can be seen.] There are nice doubles of two different exposures from approx. 20 years ago and recently in 2015. For me, [it’s] quite [an] interesting, unexpected surprise. But I really like it.

He took photograph using a Lomo Lubitel loaded with Kodak Gold 200. You can see more photographs from this unexpected film swap on this album.

Congratulations to _baunovart_ for winning Photo of the Day!

Wow - thank you for the honor! I'm glad that it's appreciated. But I also have to say thanks to my father in law - without him such a result never could have appeared and it never would have made it as Photo of the Day.
