I already introduced the small fishing village of El Cotillo. South of El Cotillo begins the steep coast where long beaches stretch. This coastal section of Fuerteventura is very wild, because here the strong break hits the coast in full force. This is why the wild coast is very popular with surfers. The largest beach of El Cotillo is Piedra Playa. It offers perfect conditions for surfing while you’re surrounded by mighty cliffs and pure nature.
In a nutshell: Piedra Playa is characterized not only by a breathtaking backdrop, but also by numerous surfers in the water, boards on the beach and a relaxed atmosphere. For those who want to try surfing, there is a surf school in El Cotillo. With this fantastic scenery and among those powerful waves I tried to catch up my very first white water waves. Therefore Piedra Playa will always be a very special place form e.
