6 Must-Try Tips for the Diana F+

5

So, are you the proud owner of a new and beautiful Diana F+? We bet you’re itching to start shooting and experimenting with it, so allow us to share with you a handful of tips you must try with your Diana F+ now!

1. Shoot doubles and multiple exposures.

Aside from the distinct retro touch you can get with the Diana F+, you can also create surreal and mind-blowing images when you expose a frame more than once. To shoot doubles and multiple exposures, all you have to do is to take two or more consecutive shots — don’t advance the frame after your first picture! Remember, though, to take note of the ISO of your film and the lighting conditions you’re shooting with so your photos won’t be overexposed.

2. Make masks and filters for your Diana F+.

With masks and filters, you’re free to add a dash of color, texture, or shapes into your lomographs to make them extra interesting! You can work with color gels, melted plastic, and even stencils to make your Diana F+ snaps even more interesting!

3. Go 35mm with your Diana F+!

Just because the Diana F+ is primarily a medium format camera doesn’t mean you can’t shoot 35mm films with it! There’s always the dedicated Diana+ 35mm Back that you can attach on your camera, or, you can try a temporary hack that allows you to load 35mm films in your Diana F+!

4. Use the Splitzer!

Did you know that the Diana F+ has its very own Splitzer? The nifty little gadget lets you take dazzling splitzed doubles! Shoot two different subjects or scenes with the Splitzer to create delightfully surreal dreamworlds, sceneries!

5. Play with light leaks when you shoot with 35mm films without the 35mm Back.

See that small window on the back of your Diana F+? If you decide to try a 35mm hack with your camera, you will need to cover it with something dark and opaque to avoid light leaks. However, you can always play with light leaks to make your snaps extra dreamy! Lomographer exotrisc found out about this trick when she covered the film counter window with cardboard paper instead of duct tape and foil. Pretty cool results don’t you think?

6. Make a case for your Diana F+.

Can’t seem to find the perfect case to house and protect your beloved Diana F+? If you’re the crafty type, you can always make yourself one (or more)! You can work with various materials like foam, fabric, or even leather!

The Diana F+ is a new twist on the ‘60s classic cult camera. Famous for its dreamy and soft-focused images, the Diana F+ is now packed with extra features such as panorama and pinhole capabilities. Available in our Online Shop.

Nice! I would also advice diana-"youngsters" to try the pinhole mode AND to use the colour gels for the flash - they result in awesome shots!
