Railroad Park - Birmingham, Alabama - Pinhole

Railroad Park is in downtown Birmingham, Alabama, next to the railroad viaduct that runs through the middle of the original part of the city. Birmingham was created after the U.S. Civil War by railroad and iron interests because the area contained large supplies of iron ore, coal and limestone, the three ingredients needed to make iron. When streets were planned a railroad reservation was run through the middle of the city for the city's transportation needs. Today the rail line through the middle of town is used by Norfolk Southern (NS), CSX and Amtrak. The Amtrak passenger station is near the park, across the viaduct. Two second bulb exposure
