Parc Guell, Barcelona

This is one of my favourite shots I have ever taken as it proves how happy a "happy accident can be". I hadn't planned this shot to be this way, I think it is a triple exposure as the film got caught in my camera as I had loaded it a bit wonky!

How did you get the picture like that?

  16. kneehigh85
    kneehigh85 ·

@lainiec it was meant as a normal double exposure but the film got stuck so it ended up being a triple which I think is why the top layer is so feint compared to the bottom one - but not entirely sure!

OK, kneehigh85, I reserved my 50th comment of the day for you, but it's no chore...This.Shot.Is.ASTOUNDING!!!

@buckshot hahaha thank you! I don't want to spoil it by saying it was a total accident, but it was!
P.S. I didn't mind commenting but my counter kept losing some!
P.P.S. What is your real life name?

  47. buckshot
    buckshot ·

Re: P.P.S. It's juat a name, and one I've never really been comfortable with, to be honest. You can call me Dylan if you like, though - that suits me just fine...! ;-) Since you asked, what's yours? If you'd care to say, of course...

@buckshot Dylan works for me! Although I am listening to a lot of Leonard Cohen at the moment and Bobby's on the back burner - whoops. My name is Claire, I have no strong feelings about this either way.

Leonard Cohen is very cool too - I love his line "And love is like dust in an old man's cuff who is tapping his foot to a tune", from Master Song, along with a thousand other great lyrics of his. As a lyricist and poet, I put him in second place between Dylan and Neil Young, who, as it happens, I share a first name with. There you have it - I am Neil. Nice to meet you, Claire!

@buckshot I think Neil is a great name and I bloody love Neil Young. When I was a kid I always felt sad for the horse with no name so I used to sing "I bin through the dessert on a horse called Charlie"! How embarrassing. And yeah I love a good poem/song lyrics - my favourite Leonard lyric though is probably "I was born like this, I have no choice. I was born with a gift of a golden voice" because when he sings it live, everyone laughs there. For me, Dylan and Cohen are interchangeable in first and second place. Not sure about Neil though because I would maybe put Baez next.

  52. kneehigh85
    kneehigh85 ·

P.S I just realised that I always assume horse with no name is Neil because dewey's voice is so similar. I do realise however that this is not the case but I am still sad for said horse.

  53. buckshot
    buckshot ·

@kneehigh85 Oh sure, there are many lyricists around who are as good as or better than Neil Young, including Lennon, Roger Waters, The Waterboys' Mike Scott, Colin Meloy (of the fantastic band The Decemberists), Patti Smith and even Bono - it's just that I always think of Dylan, Cohen and Young as a folk-poetry trio, somehow, in which Young comes a pretty distant third. P.S. Riding through the desert on a horse (heroin) called Charlie (cocaine) would be a pretty wild trip, I imagine...!
