In the 1950s/1960s, this cinema was a central gathering point for the locals, always bustling with activities and movie-goers, that is, regardless if the movie-goer had a ticket in hand or not.
My parents used to live a few streets away and as kids, whenever there is a new movie showing, they'd be the first to "navigate" their way in. Although this cinema has lost its former luster, it was preserved till today and gave my parents an opportunity to revisit this venue. It brings back fond memories. They lived in poverty...but they were never unhappy because they pursued happiness.
