The Western media has always accused NK of putting on a show in Pyongyang to fool foreigners into thinking that everything is fine and dandy in NK. That it is all just a show, a Potemkin village from an Orwell novel.
So my focus was outside Pyongyang. Lo and behold, I saw poverty, everywhere! Buildings in tatters, peasants walking along rail track, children swimming naked in rivers.
Ironically. Our tour guide told us to respect the feelings of North Koreans and to refrain from throwing candies out if the windows.
