week 27: come a little closer

the first step for this album was to create a mask for my diana f+ camera. i used transparent paper and acrylic paint.
to begin with i applied some black paint, then let it dry. later i added a second layer of color – pink, blue and brown – with thinned acrylic paint. once this was dry too, i scraped off some of the paint with the handle of the paintbrush to get a wilder/shabbier look.

the next step was to tape the mask into the camera. i made extra sure, that it was taped in really well, because last time i used a mask it came off halfway through the film and got sucked into the roll.
i loaded the camera with a roll of lomography color negative 800 and put the close-up lens on my diana. i put together/shot various things, like some books, newspaper, shoes, fruit, and so on.

depending on the brightness and color of the photographed object, the mask looks really cool. e.g. the books are not very colorful, so you can see the mask and all its colors very well.
