I vecchi obiettivi tolgono al digitale quell’estremo artefatto di definizione e nitidezza, e danno sfumature di toni e colori non possibili con sofware.

‘I maggiori limiti imposti dai sistemi di calcolo, tecnologie e materiali di produzione degli anni passati costringevano i progettisti a maggiori compromessi e scelte personali o di marketing nella definizione della specifiche ottiche degli obiettivi; questo permette oggi un'interessante varietà di resa anche con l’impiego in digitale. Ci sono obiettivi che producono per esempio bokeh, sensazione di tridimensionalità, piacevolezza dell’immagine, transizioni dalle aree a fuoco verso quelle sfuocate, bilanciamento dei colori apprezzabilmente diversi gli uni dagli altri.
