What is this about using water with your Adox film?
One day I noticed that the emulsion layer of the Adox CHS art film can be partly eases. When you having wet hands wile handling this film. Because I saw some finger prints in my negatives. And I got some green/blue color on my fingers.

So I started to wonder what will happen when you take some of the layer off on some places on the entire film and than later when its dried up. Use it as a normal roll of film. And this is the result of it if you are not to heavy handed with it.

So how are you doing this precisely?
It’s not so hard to if you are already a bit used to work in the dark, Because you developing your one film or something like that. The only things you need to have is a roll of Adox CHS ART film. And to role this out in the dark and to take a brush with water on it. And apply this on some places on the film. And after warts just let it dry up a bit and role in back up again and it ready fore use

What are the different effects that are to be made with this.
You can think about the different ways to apply water to this film. Like using your finger or the use of different types of brushes and things like that.
And how much water there is used can effect it to.
Also a fun thing to give it a older look is by letting it dry in a dusty room. Or of course in a clean room for a less damaged look.
And letting it fully dry of just lightly will give a different result. Because the wet emulsion layer will stick a bit to the back side of the film wile rolling it back in the 135 canister.
But you will find probably more fun things to experiment with.

What do you need?
- Adox Chs Art film
In how far I have tested is this effect only possible with the Adox CHS ART film. But it don’t mater which film speed you are using either the 25 50 and 100 ASA will work. and they are both in 135 and 120 film format.

- Water and brush or finger
Me personally I use the ColorAll Refill brush a lot. This is a brush with a small water tank. But a regular brush and water will work fine to. And working with your fingers can work fun to give some finger prints and so on. Al do I wonder if it is really healthy to do.

- Dark room or a changing bag
Because you need to roll out your film to work on it. Is it needed to do this in total darkness. So if you already have a dark room its no problem. And for those how don’t there also a changing bag this looks a bit like a black T shirt with to zippers in it. So you can work with the film with out having to sit in a special dark room.

- screwdriver or scissor (not needed but can be handy with 135 film)
If you take a screwdriver or a closed scissor you can use this as a tool. To wind the film faster and more easy inside the canister than just by hand. Or use a camera for it all I must say. For this its not so wise because the film can give of the emulsion layer when it not fully dried.

- Extra 120 spool (handy with 120 film)
When you roll out a 120 film it can be a bit though winding it back right again. Because the film is only taped on the backing paper on one side. And this is on the start side of the film. So what I do is role it fist up in the start side and after wards role it back again on the second spool. and wile doing this. I’m looking when the film appears so I can roll it in a proper way with the backing paper.

Tips
You can always try it a bit on the leader of a 135 film just to look how it will react

And as I have mentioned before don’t be to heavy handed with the water use. Because you just will wash it all of or just to much. What will make the contrast to hi
