Hi Olivier! Can you tell us little bit about yourself? Where are you currently based?

Hello ! I’m a 30 years old photographer living in a van near a beach in the South West of France. It’s pretty amazing to live here, away from the city, and being able to drink coffee while quietly staring at the ocean – and at the same time, being able to meet loads of interesting people to photograph during the summer!

What projects are you currently working on?

Right now, I’m just thinking about buying a camping-car and being able to travel around France and abroad. I would love to come back with nice pictures of beautiful and wild spots.

You mentioned you were planning a road trip through France so you could capture beautiful places and people along the way. How did you come up with this idea? Which part of France are you planning on visiting?

I’m thinking about going in the North of France – seeing the Etretat cliffs but also the industrial cities, the factories… Then, I would plan on going back to some wilder spots such as the Vosges and the Jura, and why not going to Switzerland and Italy! I’m hoping to meet some cool people on the road, let’s see!

It seems you are always on the road, but if you could choose your happy place where would it be?

The ideal spot would be a mobile home close to a lake, between sea and mountains – and not too far from the city to go out and meet people from time to time! But I didn’t find this place yet – although I am feeling pretty comfortable where I am right now, just a bit far from the mountains!

How old were you when you made your first photo? Have you kept the same photographic style or were you experimenting a bit through the years?

I think that the first photo who really made me realise I should keep on doing this was 10 years ago! And now, everything has changed in my photography style since that picture.
Firstly, my gear changed so my pictures are of course a bit different, but mostly what I want to share now has nothing to do with what I wanted to share when I was 20! I am still far from succeeding in doing what I would really like to do – even though I have so much ideas, it’s not always that simple to do it. But I still got loads of time to do it!

What is it that you want to communicate through your photos?

I want to talk about simplicity. That’s why I love working on naked, because people are at their simplest state. I want to show what real life is all about through my photos and sometimes changing it a bit! I would love to communicate more feelings but it is rather hard. Maybe with time it will come up.

How does photography contribute to your personal growth? What is it about photography that drives you to create over and over again?

Photography is very important to me – if i don’t do any good pictures that i like for a while, I don’t feel well. I am a lonely person and photography is pushing me towards people and even places: I’ve been walking around spots I would have never been to if it was not for this passion!

What advice would you give to someone who is just starting to explore the world of photography?

I guess that the most important thing is to take pictures of emotional instants. It’s not easy to communicate exactly the same thing as what we are seeing – but it is already a good start. A peaceful moment as a couple, joyful friendships moments or even sadness – I think that the more beautiful and strong a picture is, the more it will be true.
