Behind The Lens: Ruby Law and the Daguerreotype Achromat
1 12 Share TweetHong Kong photographer Ruby Law masterfully used the Daguerreotype Achromat in this series of photographs of Petra Sivakova. Its painterly rendering complements Ruby's keen eye and intimate approach to portraiture.
Although she studied Marketing in college, Ruby Law is a self-taught photographer, her natural talent can be seen in her portraits. She is also the first female Hong Kong-based photographer, to work with Playboy. When asked what she would like to impart to budding photographers, this is what she has to say:
"I think building rapport with the subject is very important. They trust you and you are trusting them. It’s definitely an intimate relationship if only for a few hours. Never shoot without seeing and feeling. As a photographer, I always focus on my viewfinder and easily forget about enjoying the magical moment we are in."
We would like to thank Ruby Law for her participation and for allowing us to feature her in this article. You could see more of work in her website.
