Following local custom, everyone went to the relative's house to have lunch after the funeral of my friend's father. We partook in simple lunch yet very sumptuous Pampanga cuisines that were already prepared on the kitchen table. We all took turns getting our plate of food. Then just before leaving the house to go back to Manila, strangely a vendor was at the gate. He was holding lots of cartoon character toy balloons in his hand. For me that's a sign for my friend to move on to the brighter side of things after the sad loss of a loved one. The universe has a strange way of cheering us up.
