Decided to have the Belair with me last week. Looks like I need to practice framing. What EV does the Belair top out at in daylight?

It's top shutter speed is 500th of a second and the smallest aperture is f16... In my personal experience, anything 200 or slower is OK in broad daylight but brighter stuff on 200 ISO film will most likely be a little over exposed.

@alienmeatsack 1/500 I'm surprised it's that fast. I was making a point of shooting, with the sun behind me. But I love it with a flash, have you seen my 'rig' for Belair. We'll pick each others brains some time. Sound good?

I'm always around to talk tips and tricks etc. I like to learn ways to use my gear that I might not think of. And same with others for sure!

I know that with the plastic lenses, you are better off sticking to f/16 as f/8 tends to be a little too "Lomo" for my tastes. And I am a fan of using f/16 and adjusting the ISO setting for the films based on how much sun there is in front vs behind to try and control it when using faster film. On really bright summer days, I've had it hit it's shutter speed limit even with 50 and 100 ISO films. I've been considering trying to find a small filter step up ring that can be glued to the lens to either use ND or polarizers (or other color filters) and then compensate using the ISO setting and the film you pick to get the light just right.

I've had mine since they first came out and I honestly prefer it at 6x6 and 6x9 and I don't care for the wide angle lens. I also think that the viewfinders are a little to imprecise and it's worth the trouble to take the time to check the framing vs actual shot and make some tick marks so you know where to turn the viewfinder to for best framing. (I did this w the back off using some waxed paper to guess the framing and get the viewfinder to be close to that)

It's really a nice camera at 6x6, most of the "cheap lens" effect doesn't start at f/16 until you get to 6x9. I'd love to have one that was just 6x6 only. Could be fun!
