So after being given the plastic fancraptic Rebel-G camera, I strapped on a nifty fifty 1.8 (and a 17-40 wide monster) and burned through a few rolls in Shanghai. The nifty fifty is such an underrated lens. This set up weighs next to nothing and if you buy used can cost you peanuts.
