As I was shooting a roll of Portra 400 with my Nikon FE the film got jammed and ended up coming completely out of the canister. I opened the camera in my (mostly dark) basement and wound up the film, put it inside a plastic film container wrapped in black paper and taped tightly because I only had white film containers that light could shine through. I sent it to The Darkroom Lab and was surprised the roll wasn’t a total loss. While the images are messed up it’s a reminder to me that there are often surprises or variables out of my control (at least for me, I’m still learning about film) much like my own life. And often I can still find beauty among the unpredictable, the mess, the hardships and the mistakes.

The leak through the sprocket holes add a different dimension to the clouds.

@neufotomacher thank you! At first I was disappointed at the light leak then I decided to try to embrace the added character. 😉
