@lomo_analogue_film I'm not really that interested in surf photography but it can be rewarding when the conditions are right! I'm glad you appreciate this one , thanks :)

@lomo_analogue_film well, for me the gulls on the rocks are the best bit of this shot. I had them framed and just waited for the right wave and the right surfer to come along. Without the birds it would have been just another wave. The tones and the general aesthetic of the frame are assured by the choice of film and actually printing it in the darkroom. A little bit of my energy has gone into making it and maybe that comes through as well . If its not printed it isn't really a photograph, we're all kidding ourselves if we think otherwise, me included. By only scanning negatives we never really reach the end game. More lomographers should take the plunge, it needn't be that expensive, my enlarger cost me about £30, the chemistry is pretty reasonable and I only use expired paper which lasts quite a while because naturally I'm only going to print what's worthwhile to my eyes just like proper photographers did back in the day, I probably spend the equivalent of a couple of bottles of wine a month.

As an aside, why on earth do people post whole 36 shot rolls on here , do they think they are all keepers? How many shots did Cartier bresson take in his lifetime? I'd guess hundreds of thousands and how many have been published? Probably a few hundred maybe a thousand or two but no more than that so his ratio of shots to keepers wasn't that great and he was probably the greatest street photographer ever but that's my point I suppose in that printing makes one more selective.

@lomo_analogue_film that's great Judy, I'm really looking forward to seeing your skills, if they're anything like your shot taking we're in for a treat!

    Merry Christmas:)
