In the cloudy afternoon of my second day in South America, we stopped by a fishing village when we visited Niteroi, the old state capital. On the sandy shore were two boys playing football. One did the kicking to strike a goal while the other the catching for defense. It's nice to know how football has been embedded in the psyche of Brazilians, even at the very young age. Football and players like Pele are truly their national pride.
