Jörgen Axelvall 写真展『Go To Become』@BOOKMARC

スウェーデン出身、日本在住の写真家 Jörgen Axelvall (ヨーガン・アクセルバル) 。過去に何度もロモグラフィーのマガジン記事に登場してくれた彼が、写真集『Go To Become』を発刊。そして4月1日(土) から BOOKMARC にて写真展も開催されます！初日はレセプションパーティー&サイン会もあるので、ぜひ足を運んでみてください！

Jorgen Axelvall is a Swedish photographer based in Tokyo. He has appeared in Lomography Magazine several times already - a very talented friend of ours! Jorgen published his photo book "Go To Become" and holding an exhibition which starts from 1st of April at BOOKMARC . Come and visit his latest works at BookMarc this weekend! There will also be an opening reception and book signing event on the first day of exhibition!

「写真家ヨーガン・アクセルバルが人口密集度が極端に高い世界に疲れ寂しさを覚えた彼は安らぎを求めて居場所を探し、そして鳥の声が響きわたるような静寂な場所をみつける。まさしくそれは彼にとっては聖域のようなものだった。モデルを使って撮影しその姿から表現された身体美は、紛れもなく作家自身の解放された心の叫びだった。そしてこの作品に合わせて詩人 高橋睦郎は「なりに行く Go to become」と冠した詩を書き下 し、この写真と詩が織り成す奇跡のシークエンスが実現した。本作品に収録されている作品の一部で 2013年 The New Exposure Photography Competition の International 部門を受賞。」

"In 2011 Jörgen Axelvall moved to Tokyo after living in NYC for 15 years.
The work in Go To Become is Axelvall’s expression of his feelings as a newcomer to Japan. It is in every aspect biographical. The oxymoronic combination of feeling excluded and lonely on the crowded streets of Tokyo led Axelvall to seek out desolate and quiet environments. These places soon became his personal sanctuaries where he would find refuge and peace of mind from the hustle of the city, often in the middle of night. Several of these photographs earned Axelvall the New Exposure Award from US Vogue and Bottega Veneta in 2013. "

"A lover of poetry and literature, Axelvall later teamed up with Mutsuo Takahashi, one of the most prominent and prolific poets in contemporary Japan. "

"After listening to Axelvall’s story and looking at the photographs, Takahashi wrote the poem “Go To Become” [in Japanese なりに行く] specially for this project."
