Well, I ended up with a second Holga 135, this one in a Seafoam color. I shot a test roll of HP5+. The shutter spring seems to be weak. Many of the pictures were overexposed (as much due to my choice of film) or poorly focused. I did shoot a series of 5 to try to calibrate the distance for the large group icon. I forgot to remove and lens cap for one of them. I think the best distance would be about 3m. Here are 6 pictures that are decent.
Sharpness looks good. When I was in Texas, I shot JCH 400 B/W and always shot with a Red 25a, Yellow #2, or Green #2 filter over the lens. The shutter speed is usually rated 1/100 second.
