Higantes (giants) are part of the folk tradition in the town of Angono whereby giant papier maches resembling human characters are paraded in a religious ritual every 23rd of November during the feast of San Clemente. Usually, it is only the head that is papier mache mounted on a frame where a person can carry it from inside. The body is dressed with cloths typically of floral designs. Bought miniature Higantes that are full takas (papier maches) a few years ago. I am very much fascinated with the folk characteristics of these small sculptures.
