Cannery Road Romana (roman fish paste factory) In ancient Roman times the area was part of a big acricultural estate which produced everything from olive oil to fish products. Fish was brought from the nearby sea shore and then put into the tanks to be further processed to a a salty fish paste that was exported as far as Rome where it was regarded as a speciality.
