Horizon in Shanghai: 2008-2009

It takes just a few hours to fly from Tokyo to Shanghai, but we took a ferry instead for our family trip. The ferry routes through the Setonaikai (Japan's inland Sea) and takes two full days to get to Shanghai. The ferry left Osaka on December 27th, and arrived Shanghai on the 29th. We stayed in Shanghai for two days and left there on December 31st to arrive Osaka in the morning of January 2nd.<BR>

We visited Yu-Yuen (像園), Shanghai Financial Tower, Yangcheng Lake (陽澄湖) for the famous Shanghai Crabs, and Xitang (西糖) where the movie Mission Impossible was shot.

You were right, travelling is a great moment, the most important is not only going from "A" to "B", but how you get from one place to another... Nice album, I enjoyed your travel! :))

    Thanks for your comment, Vicuna.

Yes, it was quite a fun trip although the boat rolled soooo badly on the return trip. It was on the New Years Eve, but almost everybody on the boat felt sick. Even the restaurant crew were puking in the kitchen...

There was a count-down party right before the New Year, and guess what? Only eight passengers showed up including me and my elder brother (i took a pill for motion sickness and was fine throughout the trip).

taking ferry to go to shanghai sounds like a great fun! I have to do that when I move back to Japan someday!!! I'm from Osaka, so it's convenient, too:) Great album!

one thing is that you have a lot (i meant, a looooot) of time to kill. if you are a book worm, i'm sure you will have a great time (i spent most of time writing new year cards). you can play ping-pong, or even mahjong. i've done the same thing before to visit pusan, korea (a round trip plus one night accommodation at a decent hotel cost me only 25,000 yen) . it took us to get there 24 hours, which wasn't that bad, but spending whole two days might be too long for some people. going to shanghai on a boat and coming back by air might be a good option.
