Old Highway 72 / Lee Highway - Margerum, Alabama

At one time U.S. 72 (or the Lee Highway) in Northwest, Alabama was a two lane road that between Tuscumbia, Alabama and the Mississippi state line followed the Southern Railway. Decades ago a newer four lane highway was built, but most of the old road is still intact in this area for local traffic. This is looking west. Just east of this location the road is barricaded because of a structurally unsound bridge that is closed to automobiles. This section of road sees very little traffic. 114 mm Belairgon lens
