Once a year a group of funny people swim 3.5 km through the Elbe river, from the Blue Wonder bridge to the quartier of Johannstadt. Organized as a one-time event in 1998, by the recently passed away Dr. Dietrich Ewers, it soon became a tradition of the city where hundreds (and now thousands) of people take part.
