Back when Blenheim was called the Beaver (or Beavertown, because it flooded so much), cargo and passenger boats from other parts of the country would dock right about here. There's a nearby platform that's called the Quays, I'm guessing, in reference to that. Raupo (an eatery, also near here) is named after a plentiful building material often used by Māori at the time (during the late 1800s when Blenheim was established).
