As a student, I don't have much money, but what I do have, I spend on a varied array of old cameras (mostly junk shop finds), lenses and plenty of FILM, invariably Kentmere 400. I delight in giving older cameras a second life and wonder what their original owners shot with them. I live amongst a wild hill landscape in a northern, post industrial town. I use mainly old AF 1980's Minoltas because they are cheap these days but also highly capable. I home develop my film using Ilford PQ Universal. This is a conscious choice, economically driven. I live in a gritty northern town and the resulting coarser grain gives a texture which ideally suits the subject matter. I use an 'entry level' Minolta for 'shoot from the hip' street photography and for hill walking because it is light and responsive. For more studied shots I use a 9xi. I often shoot naked as I am also a naturist and adult model.

My first camera as a child, was a little (second hand) Agfa Iso-Rapid, age 9. My father kindly and patiently taught me how to process and develop black and white film as well as printing and enlarging. I owe so much to my Abba for starting a long fascination with the magic of analogue photography. When I married another photographer a few years ago, it rekindled my interest. He gifted me a Canon EOS 500 and I began to explore this wonderful medium yet again. I now also own a heavily used 1989 Canon EOS 1 in a peeling leatherette ERC. The flash hot shoe is non functional but the camera itself shoots fine with a 28-105 f3.5-4.5 lens.

I live in the post-industrial North West of Britain among the Pennine hills. The town I call home is in the slowly regenerating rust belt of East Lancashire. Gone are the old industries: Cotton weaving spinning and dyeing;, coal mining, quarrying and utensil making. The legacy of that era remains and the decayed commerce and prosperity is what attracts my attention. I love to chat online with others who have similar interests.
