King Regula Sprinty BC 300 (1963–1971) The King Regula Sprinty BC 300 was produced between 1963 and 1971 by the German company King KG (Regula-Werk King KG) in Bad Liebenzell. It’s part of the broader Regula Sprinty series, a line of easy-to-use zone focus viewfinder cameras aimed at amateur photographers. The BC 300 was one of the later, more advanced models in the series — simple, yet surprisingly capable. Shutter Speeds The camera is equipped with a Rectamat program shutter, which links shutter speed and aperture. Speeds range from 1/30 to 1/300 sec, with a Bulb mode for long exposures. The automatic linkage of aperture and speed makes shooting intuitive and fast, though it limits full manual control. History The Regula Sprinty line was introduced in the early 1960s. The BC 300 arrived as an upgraded version, featuring a selenium light meter (uncoupled) and a faster top shutter speed. These cameras were often rebranded and sold under other names through department stores like Foto-Quelle (Revue) and Boots. Despite the popularity of the Sprinty series, the company eventually collapsed in 1984 due to failed ventures into SLR and 110-format markets.
